The quadrennial Get-together of Old Royalists Engineering Professionals’ Association was held on 14th of September 2018 at Waters Edge,Colombo. This year too the whole community of Old Royalists Engineering Professionals Association which include Engineers, Architects, Quantity Surveyors and other related professionals gathered to celebrate the past endeavors and witness the future ambitions of the association.
The event was formally begun by lighting the traditional oil lamp which was followed by the welcome speech made by the president of OREPA , prof. J.M.S.J Bandara. Then the members were addressed by the Registrar-Royal College, Mr. Asoka Galahitiya and the Secretary of the Royal College Union, Mr. Mithila Mendis.
The event saw a number of key speeches which included two keynote speeches done by the Chief Guest of the day,the President Elect 2018/2019 of IESL, prof. S.B.S. Abayakoon and the Guest of Honour, Head of Engineering, LECO(pvt) Ltd, Eng(Dr) P.S.N De Silva. A special speech on ‘Role of Electronics’ was done by Eng(Dr) Nalin Karunasinghe. These speeches were rich in various kinds of Engineering knowledge and definitely contributed to broaden the views of the delegates about Engineering.Specially they revealed what Engineering really is and how essential it is towards the betterment of the community and also about the evolution of various kinds of Engineering disciplines.
Apart from that presentations were done by two of the sponsors for the day Regen Renewables and JLanka Technologies.
After the conclusion of the formal proceedings, the participants were served with a buffet dinner and also a colorful music party to enjoy themselves.
This glamourous event came to an end with the fellowship.
